Misti Smith - Owner

Misti began dancing at the age of two. Her passion for dance left her dreaming of directing her own studio one day. For fifteen years she taught for her mother, Maxine Smith, the founder of Green Acres School of Dance. After years of mastering the art of dance, Misti’s childhood dreams finally became reality. Misti’s Dare 2 Dance Studio was established in 2004 and Misti has proved year after year that "dreams really do come true"!

Misti is proud to pass on her love of dance to her beautiful daughter, Phoenix Kenner Smith. Phoenix possesses her mother’s qualities in the art of dancing. She is an inspiration to other young dancers and stands by her mother as a partner in teaching dance techniques.

Misti has taken master classes from well-known instructors around the world, including, legendary jazz dance teacher, Frank Hatchett; world famous dancer, choreographer and creative director, Brian Friedman; So You Think You Can Dance choreographer, Shane Sparks; award-winning hip-hop dance teacher, choreographer, and talent developer best known for his choreography in the movies You Got Served and Step Up 2: The Streets and resident choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance, Dave Scott; world famous choreographer best known for her judging and contemporary choreography on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance, Mia Michaels; 1997 World Tap Champion, Mike Minery; Artistic Director of Synthesis Dance Project NYC, Tracy Stanfield; Tony Award winning choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler; one of the most sought-after ballet teachers in the United States, David Howard; Executive Director of New York City Dance Alliance and one of the country's premier jazz teachers, Joe Lanteri; world famous choreographer, Dan Karaty; pop superstar choreographer and master teacher, Ray Leeper; dancer-choreographer known for his work in films such as Dreamgirls, Stevie Ray Anthony; famous hip-hop choreographer and featured dancer in the movie Bringing Down the House, Barry Youngblood; powerhouse dancer-choreographer, Scott Benson; professional dance instructor-choreographer, Bob Rizzo; famous Broadway performer, John Crutchman; performer-choreographer, Alan Sherfield; film, television and professional choreographer, Dee Caspary; as well as Billy Larson, Linda Burnaby, Shelia Barker, Kit Andre, Suzi Taylor, Jason Persons, Desmond Richardson, Rhonda Miller, Tommy Alexander, Christopher Smith, Daryel Retter, Jimmy Southerlin, Stepp Stewart, and Jeremy Duvall.

Misti strives to show her Dance Company how many great opportunities are out there. On several occasions she has taken a group of her students to New York to attend master classes at the Broadway Dance Center and to see Broadway Shows such as The Lion King, Rent, 42nd Street and Chicago. These types of dance experiences inspire students and have a lasting impact.

Misti was the first to receive All-American Cheerleader for Robertsdale High School. This honor allowed her to travel to London and participate in the Westminster's Day Parade with the Queen of England. She has received numerous awards over the years such as Top Ten and Talent Winner for Baldwin County's Junior Miss, Guest Performance at the World's Fair, chosen as Opryland and Disney Dancer. She performed in the All-Star halftime show, has won numerous Dance Scholarships and was invited to perform in the Orange Bowl halftime show. Misti's students continue to win numerous Top Overall Awards, High Point trophies, Miss Petite Dance titles, Miss Jr. Dance titles, Top Soloist Jr. & Sr. awards, Most Entertaining, Best Choreography, Best Precision, Best in Show and Best All Around awards!

Her love for dance continues to grow. She enjoys seeing her students set high goals and strive to reach them while never giving up. Dreams can take you anywhere.
